Tales from the Crip : The Emergency Horse Interview with John Callahan

John Callahan died this week. The first interview I ever did was with him, way back in 1918 I think it was, for a little magazine called “Emergency Horse” which I ran with some friends. In honor of his git up ‘n’ go havin’ gotten up and gint, I’m linking this post to a .pdf of that interview. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll vomit into the back of a fan.

Best Horse headline ever. Not that there were many.

    Dear Sir

I would love to read a copy of this interview, I was searching today to buy a copy of Callahan’s book ‘Don’t worry he won’t get far on foot’ to send to a friend who has recently been paralysed. Sadly I discovered Mr Callahan had passed away last year and I feel annoyed to only be finding this out now. RIP John Callahan.

    Yours sincerely

  3. Sarah Pearsall says:

    Dear Sir,

I am living in Korea and trying to share some of his cartoons and his story with friends over here. While googling for some more of his fine work, I came across this. Please send me the interview if you would.

    All the best,
